White Rice link to Type 2 Diabetes


Eating white rice may be linked to a higher risk of type 2 diabetes, researchers said today.

A review of four studies involving around 350,000 people found the more white rice people ate, the higher their chance of developing the condition seemed to be.

Experts from Harvard School of Public Health and Harvard Medical School looked at two studies in Asian people (Chinese and Japanese) and two in Western populations (the US and Australia).

Sugary Drinks Linked To Heart Risk in Men



Sugar-sweetened sodas can lead to weight gain and diabetes, but a new study finds just how harmful the beverages can be on the heart, especially for men.
Researchers from the Harvard School of Public Health found that those drinking about 6.5 sugared beverages a week were 20% more likely to have a heart attack during the study’s nearly two decades than those who never consumed them.
